Saudi reconnaissance helicopter crashes in Najran, killing two

A Saudi-led military coalition confirmed that an AH-6i reconnaissance helicopter belonging to the Saudi Ministry of National Guard crashed in the Najran region. The incident, which resulted in the deaths of two officers, was attributed to a technical failure. This announcement follows claims by Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree that Houthi forces had shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter near the border using an appropriate weapon.

In response to the ongoing escalation, the coalition reported intercepting and destroying several threats, including drones over Riyadh and the Eastern Province, as well as ballistic missiles launched toward Khamis Mushait and Yanbu. The Houthis have also targeted various Saudi infrastructure, including airports and oil facilities, since hostilities intensified in July.

Amidst these military developments, Iran has denied accusations from Saudi officials that it is encouraging or supporting Houthi attacks. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that the Houthi forces act according to their own interests and reiterated Tehran's willingness to mediate to end the hostilities.
