Iran denies US claim of IAEA inspection deal and asserts freedom over unfrozen assets

President Donald Trump said the United States would send its own inspectors to join an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission to examine Iran's nuclear facilities, and claimed Iran had agreed to the inspections. He also asserted that the newly released Iranian assets would be used to purchase food and medical supplies from the United States.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Bagheri contradicted those statements, saying Iran has not met with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and has no plan to allow an IAEA inspection of sites damaged by attacks. Bagheri also rejected the U.S. narrative on the frozen assets, stating that Iran can freely use the funds for any needed imports. He warned that if the United States does not uphold a cease‑fire memorandum related to Lebanon, Iran would not continue to honor it and hinted at possible actions affecting the Strait of Hormuz.
