Iran develops hybrid and electric engines to reduce fuel consumption

Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Seyyed Mohammad Atabak, has announced initiatives to reduce national fuel consumption by developing more efficient automotive technologies. The ministry is currently focusing on the research and development of hybrid and electric engines to modernize the country's vehicle fleet and address energy imbalances.

While domestic automakers report an average fuel consumption of approximately 7.4 to 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers, Atabak noted a gap between these figures and the government's target of 5 liters. He suggested that due to heavy traffic conditions and specific urban environments like Tehran, a more realistic immediate target for consumption might be around 8 liters per 100 kilometers.
