Iran stock market faces significant downturn and capital outflow

The Tehran Stock Exchange and Iran Fara Bourse experienced a notable downturn during the first week of Aban. The main index fell by over 128,000 units, dropping below the psychological 8 million mark to approximately 7.8 million. This decline was driven by widespread selling pressure across both large-cap and mid-cap stocks, rather than being limited to major index makers.

Significant capital outflow was recorded, with approximately 15 trillion tomans of retail investor funds exiting the market. Despite the downward trend, trading activity remained high, with daily transaction values exceeding 30 trillion tomans and the number of trades surpassing one million.

In addition to the market decline, several trading symbols were suspended due to the disclosure of significant information. Meanwhile, the imported car market in Iran saw sharp price increases, with certain models like the BMW iX1 M rising by approximately 15.8 percent in a three-day period, driven by concerns over future supply and political uncertainties.
