Iran executes political prisoners as US condemns capital punishments

The opposition group CNRI warned that five other political prisoners in Ghezel Hesar face similar threats. Human‑rights monitors report Iran carried out about 1,500 executions in 2025, a 50 % rise from the previous year, underscoring a broader crackdown on dissent.
