Iran executes six prisoners and faces eight women facing death sentences
At least six men were executed in Iranian prisons across Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces on Sunday, September 14, 2026. The individuals executed include Hashem Rakhshani, Amanullah Nazarkhani, Yousef Abil, Asghar Pishahang, Mohammad Mousazehi, and Farzad Ahmadpour. These executions took place in prisons located in Zahedan, Iranshahr, Zabol, and Jiroft.
According to human rights reports, the men were convicted on drug trafficking charges. For instance, Asghar Pishahang, 33, was sentenced by a Revolutionary Court in Sistan and Baluchestan after being arrested in 2022, with his sentence subsequently confirmed by the Supreme Court. Mohammad Mousazehi, 34, was also executed following a conviction for drug trafficking in Iranshahr.
Separately, at least eight women in various Iranian prisons are currently facing death sentences. These women are facing charges including ‘rebellion’, ‘moharebeh’ (enmity against God), and ‘corruption on earth’. Some of these cases are linked to the protests of December 2025, while others involve political and security charges. While some sentences, such as those for Pakshan Azizi and Arghavan Fallahi, have been upheld by the Supreme Court, others remain in the preliminary or appeal stages in courts across Tehran, Isfahan, Rasht, and Bandar Abbas.
