Iran executions condemned by over 30 countries

More than 30 countries and the European Union have issued a joint statement condemning ongoing executions in Iran. The participating nations, including Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, called for an immediate end to the death penalty, stating that its use to silence dissent or intimidate communities is never justifiable.

The statement further urged the Iranian regime to listen to its people's calls for change and to take meaningful steps to ensure respect for human rights.

According to the Abdorrahman-Borouman-Zentrum für Menschenrechte im Iran, the regime has carried out at least 920 executions since the beginning of the year, following 2,113 in the previous year. Some reports suggest actual figures may be higher due to withheld information. Recent cases include the August 1 execution of 20-year-old Arvin Kheirkhah, who was detained during mass protests and charged with ‘warring against Allah’.
