Iran exhibits wreckage of downed US MQ-9 drone
Debris from a United States MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), valued between $30 million and $50 million, is being exhibited in the city of Humeyn, Iran. The wreckage, which includes fuselage parts, wings, fuel tanks, and propellers, was reportedly downed by Iranian air defense systems.
Local authorities in Humeyn stated that seven UAVs entered the airspace during the month of Ramadan and were intercepted. Iranian officials claim to have neutralized more than 50 MQ-9 type UAVs belonging to the United States since February 28.
The exhibition of the wreckage follows reports of strikes in the region that targeted civilian infrastructure, including schools and residential areas, resulting in casualties and damage to administrative centers and shops.
