Iran expands electricity curbs amid nuclear facility repairs

Satellite imagery released in July showed renewed activity at several Iranian nuclear and missile sites, including the Natanz complex, suggesting reconstruction work after a series of U.S. and Israeli strikes on July 8‑9 that targeted vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran responded by striking U.S. bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, while diplomatic talks, conditioned on the delivery of enriched uranium, were slated to take place in Oman.

The Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade announced that partial electricity rationing for industrial facilities has been increased to two days per week. The move follows an imbalance in power supply heightened by soaring summer demand and damage to roughly 7 % of the country's power plants during the February‑April attacks blamed on the United States and Israel. Officials said blackout days will be counted as holidays and that overtime work on other days may proceed without extra pay.
