Iran experiences extreme heatwave with temperatures reaching 51°C
Iran is experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures in several regions reaching extreme levels. In Khuzestan province, Abadan recorded a temperature of 51 degrees Celsius, while cities such as Bostan, Omidiyeh, and Shadgan reached 50 degrees Celsius.
Nationwide, data indicates that the average temperature over the seven days ending September 1 was 29.3 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees higher than the long-term average. Since the beginning of summer, the national average has been 1.3 degrees above normal. Alborz province reported the highest temperature deviation at 2 degrees above its long-term average, followed by Razavi Khorasan.
Other notable high temperatures include 48 degrees Celsius in parts of Ilam province and various locations across Fars, Kerman, Sistan and Baluchestan, and Hormozgan provinces. In Mazandaran, the average temperature for the current agricultural year has seen a 2.1-degree increase compared to historical norms.
