Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declares Iran is in a comprehensive economic war

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has declared that the country is engaged in a “comprehensive economic war.” In a message marking Government Week, Ghalibaf expressed confidence that the government and executive branches, supported by the people and the private sector, will defeat their adversaries in this arena.

Ghalibaf emphasized that supporting the government does not mean ignoring its shortcomings, but rather building the trust necessary for effective service. He noted that the Parliament would use its legislative and oversight powers to assist the government by removing obstacles and reforming laws.

These remarks follow threats from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding an “unprecedented economic war” against Iran and potential consequences for nations supporting Tehran. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has also characterized economic pressure as a strategic attempt by Washington to force Iranian submission, asserting that the nation will not surrender.
