Iran faces increased nuclear oversight scrutiny and US economic sanctions
International pressure on Iran is intensifying through both diplomatic and economic channels. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is demanding accountability from Iran regarding its failure to adhere to safeguards designed to prevent nuclear weapons development. Reports indicate a systematic decline in nuclear oversight, with Iran allegedly obstructing inspections by disabling surveillance cameras and subjecting inspectors to intrusive physical interference.
Simultaneously, the United States Department of the Treasury has expanded its economic campaign against Tehran. Under ‘Operation Economic Outcast,’ Washington is targeting financial networks used to bypass sanctions and fund military programs. These measures aim to sever channels providing oil revenue and target sectors including digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping. Recent actions have also sought to restrict Iranian access to banking systems in the UAE and targeted specific entities in Hong Kong and Dubai to disrupt shadow banking networks used for money laundering.
