Iran faces influenza vaccine supply delays
The Iranian Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Organization have issued a joint announcement regarding delays in the supply of influenza vaccines. The procurement process has faced complications due to production and delivery delays from foreign manufacturers, rising prices, sanctions-related restrictions, financial transfer difficulties, and international transportation challenges.
While European sources have historically provided a significant portion of the supply, the Ministry has turned to alternative sources, including China and Russia, to prevent further delays. Although orders for European vaccines such as Influvac and Vaxigrip have been placed, their arrival and official availability in the formal network have not yet been finalized.
Authorities emphasized that all vaccines must undergo legal registration, quality control, and verification of cold chain requirements before official distribution. The public is advised to avoid purchasing influenza vaccines from unofficial sources, as these products may lack verified authenticity or proper storage conditions.
