Iran Foreign Minister Araghchi Warns US of Retaliation Over Gulf Security

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X that U.S. officials are ignoring on‑the‑ground realities and are focused solely on the 2028 presidential election, warning that such a stance will bring a "heavy price" for President Donald Trump’s administration.

He clarified Tehran’s defence doctrine as an "eye for an eye" principle, stating that any attack on Iran or its infrastructure will receive an immediate, strong and decisive response, and that anyone providing support to such aggression will be treated as a legitimate military target. Negotiator Bagher Galipaf added that oil sales in the region would be halted if Iran were blocked, and that the security of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the absence of U.S. forces.

Araghchi’s comments signal heightened warning of possible retaliation should the United States conduct further military actions in the Persian Gulf.
