Iran Foreign Minister calls for dialogue amid U.S. economic pressure

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the United States has no choice but to engage in respectful dialogue with the Iranian people to find solutions based on justice and honor. Araghchi characterized the economic warfare announced by U.S. President Donald Trump as a recurring pattern that indicates American desperation.

President Trump previously announced economic operations against Iran, describing them as an unprecedented level of isolation and calling for allies to join the effort. The ongoing tension follows military strikes by the U.S. and Israel against Iranian targets on February 28, which prompted Iranian retaliation. Subsequent strikes targeted the South Pars gas fields and the Assaluyeh industrial zone in southern Iran.

Although the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to cease hostilities in mid-June, exchanges of fire resumed shortly thereafter. While the two nations are not currently engaged in direct combat, the conflict remains unresolved as the United States continues to utilize economic pressure to achieve its objectives.
