Iran Foreign Minister Warns Foreign Interference Will Delay Full Reopening of Hormuz Strait
Iranian Foreign Minister Abas Araghchi told a press conference in Iraq on June 28 that any external interference in the navigation of the Hormuz Strait would only complicate the situation and postpone its complete reopening after the recent crisis. He emphasized that the management of navigation must remain solely under Iranian authority and, according to agreements, the strait should revert to the pre‑crisis operating regime within 30 days. Araghchi thanked Bahrain’s Crown Prince for support, noted regional cooperation discussions that included Lebanon, and called for a new regional security framework that excludes outside players. He also warned that a prolonged closure would seriously affect Iraq’s oil exports and suggested holding a regional security summit in Iraq.
The minister’s remarks underscore Iran’s intent to keep control over Hormuz navigation and seek broader regional dialogue while resisting foreign meddling.
