Iran denies cutting gasoline subsidies for high-value new vehicles
The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company has denied rumors regarding the removal of gasoline subsidies for new vehicles and those valued above one billion tomans. According to the company, subsidized quotas for eligible personal passenger vehicles—excluding government, imported, or free zone vehicles, and excluding multi-car owners—remain unchanged. These owners continue to receive 60 liters at 1,500 tomans and 50 liters at 3,000 tomans per month.
However, there is ongoing discussion regarding the price threshold for subsidies. While some reports indicated that new vehicles priced over one billion tomans would only be eligible for 110 liters at a rate of 10,000 tomans per liter, the distribution company stated that a review of this one-billion-toman ceiling is currently under consideration due to rising market prices.
Additionally, a proposal has been made to allocate 300 liters of gasoline at 10,000 tomans per liter monthly for ride-hailing services and pickup trucks, pending approval by the relevant working group. Regarding fuel card issuance, the smart fuel system manager noted that applicants can now receive cards within 10 days through designated centers.
