Iran issues flood and storm warnings for northwestern and southern provinces

Iran's Meteorological Organization announced intensified rainfall and flood risk for the northwestern provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan and Ardabil, effective from the evening of 13 Tir (Saturday) through 14 Tir (Sunday). The warning cites heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong gusts, possible river overflow, road flooding, landslides and damage to agriculture and structures.

A separate marine storm warning was issued for the southern coastal provinces of Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan and Sistan‑and‑Baluchestan. Expected wind speeds may reach 20‑26 knots and sea heights rise up to 1.5 m between 14 Tir (Sunday) and 19 Tir (Friday). Risks include disruption to fishing, maritime traffic, offshore platforms and coastal activities. Authorities advised the public to avoid travel near rivers and coastlines, refrain from non‑essential trips, suspend outdoor recreation, and prepare emergency and road‑maintenance services.
