Iran issues orange weather warning for heavy rain and strong winds across 13 provinces

Iran's Meteorological Organization has issued an orange‑level warning for intensified rain activity affecting thirteen provinces, including Ardabil, West and East Azerbaijan, Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Tehran, Alborz, North Khorasan and others. The alert predicts heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail and possible hailstorms from 20 June through 23 June, with risks of flash floods, river overflows, road washouts, landslides and damage to temporary structures and agriculture.

Authorities advise the public to avoid travel near rivers and streams, refrain from non‑essential trips, and postpone outdoor activities such as hiking, tourism and agricultural spraying. They also urge local administrations and emergency services to ready rescue equipment, clear bridge openings and prepare for possible evacuations. A subsequent yellow warning expands the forecast to additional provinces and warns of strong winds and dust storms in parts of the south‑west and central regions.

The organization stresses that these measures aim to reduce the impact on transport networks, safeguard residents and protect agricultural output during the expected severe weather spell.
