Iran issues severe rain and flood warnings across Tehran and northern provinces

The Iran Meteorological Organization issued a yellow warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and possible hail in the northern part of Tehran province, including areas such as Firuzkuh, Damavand, and Shemiranat, from the afternoon of 11 August through 13 August. The warning advises caution on mountain roads, avoidance of riverbanks, postponement of outdoor and agricultural activities, and readiness of emergency services.

An orange warning was also released for several northern provinces—including Golestan, Mazandaran, Saman, Alborz and Tehran—predicting intense rain, lightning, strong gusts and the risk of flash floods, landslides and damage to crops and temporary structures. Authorities recommend suspending non‑essential travel, especially in mountainous regions, and preparing infrastructure such as bridges and drainage channels for possible flooding.
