Iran issues storm, thunderstorm and dust warnings for 17 provinces
Iran's Meteorological Organization issued alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, dust and reduced air quality across 17 provinces on 13–14 July. The rain system will affect northern and eastern Hormozgan, central and southern Kerman, and the northern parts of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan and Ardabil, while a second day of activity is expected in Ardabil and the northern zones of the two Azerbaijan provinces.
A separate pressure‑gradient system is forecast for Semnan, Isfahan, Tehran, Qom, Alborz, Yazd, Kerman, South Khorasan and northern Sistan‑Baluchestan, bringing strong gusts, dust, low visibility and potential damage to temporary structures, crops and vulnerable trees. Authorities warned of possible river rise, flash floods, road closures, lightning, falling rocks and damage to agricultural produce.
Citizens were advised to avoid stopping near rivers and canals, exercise caution in mountain or outdoor trips, refrain from pesticide spraying, ensure temporary structures are secure, and drivers of light‑weight, high‑profile vehicles to travel carefully. Residents in desert areas, especially vulnerable groups, were urged to wear masks to mitigate dust exposure.
