Iran issues orange weather warnings for flash floods and heavy rain
Iran has issued orange-level weather warnings due to the threat of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and strong winds across multiple provinces. The National Crisis Management Organization and the Meteorological Organization have warned that short-term, intense precipitation could lead to sudden flooding, road disruptions, and water accumulation in populated areas.
Northern provinces, including Mazandaran, Gilan, Golestan, and parts of Ardabil, are expected to experience significant rainfall, with some areas potentially receiving up to 90mm. The Caspian Sea is predicted to be stormy, with wave heights reaching approximately two meters, leading to bans on swimming and light vessel activity. In the northwest, thunderstorms and strong winds are anticipated in West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, and Ardabil.
Other regions, including the Alborz mountains, Zagros mountains, and southern areas such as Kerman and Hormozgan, are also at risk of convective storms and heavy rain. Additionally, strong winds and dust storms are forecasted for eastern, central, and western parts of the country. Emergency response teams, totaling approximately 2,800 personnel, have been placed on alert in affected provinces to manage potential disasters.
