Iran issues yellow weather warnings for heat and strong winds across 19 provinces
Iran's Meteorological Organization has issued yellow alerts for elevated temperatures, strong winds and higher sea‑wave heights affecting 19 provinces. The warnings, covering the period of 10‑11 May (10‑11 Khordad), list provinces such as East Azerbaijan, Zanjan, Alborz, Tehran, Kermanshah, Ilam, Fars, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan and Sistan‑Baluchestan. Expected wind speeds reach 20‑26 knots and wave heights up to 1.6 metres offshore, raising the risk of falling objects, damage to temporary structures, reduced visibility, road disruptions, dust accumulation and heat‑related health issues.
Authorities advise caution when traveling through mountainous areas, securing temporary installations, avoiding parking near old trees, using masks in dusty zones, managing energy consumption, and limiting outdoor exposure for vulnerable groups. Coastal and offshore activities—including fishing, diving, and ferry services—are warned of possible interruptions. Agricultural and livestock sectors are cautioned about potential heat stress and damage from temperature‑related stress.
The yellow level indicates that weather conditions are stronger than normal and may cause inconvenience to daily activities, prompting both the public and officials to prepare appropriate safety measures.
