Mohsen Khalessi sentenced to 15 years in Iranian prison

Mohsen Khalessi, a 34-year-old resident of Sabzevar, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Sabzevar Revolutionary Court. The sentence includes a five-year suspension for five years of the term.

Khalessi was charged with collaboration with a hostile government and the intentional arson of public places. He was originally arrested in Sabzevar on July 20, 2025, during a wave of security-related detentions.

Reports indicate that Khalessi suffers from bipolar disorder and has made several unsuccessful suicide attempts while in custody. Prison officials reportedly requested his transfer to a hospital on five separate occasions, but these requests were denied by the presiding judge.
