Iran Khodro schedules Tara and Peugeot 207 facelifts for 2026 launch

Iran Khodro disclosed its product roadmap at the annual general meeting on 31 Tir 2025, outlining a Tara facelift (face‑lift) slated for production in 2026. The updated sedan is expected to retain its overall body shape while receiving new front and rear lighting, a redesigned grille and rear bumper, and a refreshed interior featuring a full‑digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, auto‑hold, wireless charging and a shift‑by‑wire gear selector similar to the Ray. Power‑train options may include naturally aspirated, turbo‑charged and hybrid variants; a hybrid test mule equipped with a TU5P engine running on an Atkinson cycle, a 1.8 kWh battery and a single‑speed DHT gearbox reportedly consumes about 4.8 L/100 km and accelerates from 0‑100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

The company also announced a new Peugeot 207 facelift that will feature a sportier exterior, an updated cabin and a new automatic transmission that could be a dual‑clutch (DCT) unit. A four‑year or 100,000‑km warranty will accompany the model. Commercial availability is projected for early 2026, with production possibly beginning in May 2025, though exact dates remain unconfirmed. The facelift is part of a broader expansion that includes other models such as the Tara turbo, Tara hybrid and the Sorena equipped with the TU5P engine.
