Iran launches missile and drone attacks on Gulf states, injuring three in Qatar
Iran launched a coordinated barrage of ballistic missiles and drones against several Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries—including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and others—on Sunday morning. The assaults were described as retaliation for recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian territory.
In Qatar, intercepted projectiles caused falling debris that wounded three people, one of them a child, according to the Qatari Ministry of Interior. Qatar’s defense forces reported multiple successful interceptions of Iranian missiles over Doha and warned of a high security threat level. The Al‑Udeid air base, which hosts the largest U.S. military presence in the region, was also targeted but the missiles were reportedly downed.
Oman confirmed drone attacks in its Musandam governorate and condemned the aggression, while Kuwait labeled the Iranian offensive “an escalation of the utmost seriousness” that threatens regional stability and undermines diplomatic de‑escalation efforts. The United Arab Emirates similarly reported interceptions and urged its population to seek shelter. The attacks followed Iran’s claim of striking U.S. logistical sites in Oman’s Duqm port and other U.S. assets in the Gulf after a commercial vessel was hit in the Strait of Hormuz.
