Iran launches major sports infrastructure and school olympiads
In celebration of Physical Education Week, Iran is launching significant sports infrastructure projects and competitive programs. In Khuzestan province, 19 sports development projects, including various sports halls and natural and artificial turf pitches, are being inaugurated alongside more than 300 public sports programs. Hamid Banitamim, Director General of Sports and Youth in Khuzestan, confirmed that funding for rewards for athletes who medaled in the Nagoya Asian Games has been secured, with payments expected to be processed following administrative updates.
Nationally, the Ministry of Education is launching an in-school sports olympiad involving 6 million students to identify talent for national teams. Mohammad Jafari, Deputy of Physical Education and Health at the Ministry of Education, announced that 1,520 sports projects will be commissioned during Physical Education Week. This is part of a broader initiative to increase the per capita school sports space from 0.38 square meters to a target of 1 square meter through various development phases.
