Iran links Strait of Hormuz access to US sanctions and regional peace

Iranian officials have issued warnings regarding the Strait of Hormuz and US economic policies. Mohsen Rezai, Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council, stated that if US economic sanctions continue, Iran will target all US economic interests in the region with maximum force. Rezai also noted that the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz is contingent upon the cessation of conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.

Additionally, Rezai reported that Iran's oil sales have returned to pre-sanction levels as the country develops alternative export routes.

Separately, President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran has reached an agreement with Oman regarding transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that a roadmap for the Strait has been approved by the Supreme Leader and military forces. Pezeshkian emphasized that the Strait will be opened provided the United States fulfills the commitments outlined in a memorandum signed on June 17 via Pakistani mediation, which includes lifting maritime blockades, ending sanctions, and releasing Iran's frozen assets.
