Iran market sees sharp decline in gold, currency and car prices
On Sunday, 11 Mordad 1405 (early August), Iranian financial markets recorded a broad slide in asset prices. Following reports that the United States had halted a planned attack on Iran, the price of 18‑karat gold fell about 2 % to 18,530 toman per gram, while the US dollar, euro and British pound each dropped roughly 2 % against the rial. Other currencies also weakened, with the Chinese yuan, Turkish lira and Iraqi dinar losing value. Major cryptocurrencies slipped 1‑2 %, with Bitcoin down 1 % to $63,235 and Ethereum up 1 % to $1,870.
The automotive sector showed similar volatility. Prices of several locally assembled models moved within a narrow range as traders awaited clearer political and inflation signals. The Dena Plus MT6 fell 110 million toman to a 2 billion toman price, while the Rira model dropped 28 million toman to 3 billion toman. Other models saw modest changes, such as the Atlas G rising 10 million toman and the C3‑XR decreasing 75 million toman. Overall, low transaction volumes and lingering political uncertainty kept the market in a cautious, stagnant state.
