Iran moves death‑row protester Ali Kamali to prison, upholds Musi Gorabi’s two‑year jail term

Ali Kamali, arrested during the nationwide December 2024 protests in Tehran, was moved from the city's main prison to the Qazal‑Hesar facility in Karaj. He remains on death row after being convicted of "moharebeh" (waging war against God), a sentence that is still pending review by the Supreme Court.

Musi Gorabi, also detained in the same wave of protests, had his conviction confirmed by the Khuzestan appellate court. The ruling upheld a two‑year imprisonment, a two‑year travel ban and a one‑year mandatory service in a morality‑police unit. He continues to be held in Ahvaz's Shiban prison.

The two cases are part of a broader crackdown that began on 7 December, when protests spread across Iran, resulting in thousands of deaths, injuries and mass arrests.
