Iran oil exports nearly halted amid U.S. maritime blockade
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati, has stated that Iranian oil exports have practically ceased. Despite this disruption, Hemmati noted that the country maintains sufficient foreign exchange reserves and inflows to secure essential goods and medicines.
U.S. President Donald Trump described the maritime blockade of Iran as ‘100 percent successful,’ claiming that no ships have reached Iranian ports during the operation. This aligns with reports that the United States is shifting toward a strategy of gradual economic ‘strangulation’ rather than immediate military action.
U.S. officials indicate that a new package of sanctions against Iran is expected this week, alongside the continued blockade of Iranian ports. Additionally, the Trump administration has signaled it does not intend to engage in negotiations with Tehran or extend existing memorandums of understanding with the country.
