Iran praises Pakistan's mediation in Middle East crisis

Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni met with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss bilateral relations and regional stability. During the meeting, Momeni expressed gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their mediation efforts in the ongoing Middle East crisis.

The regional unrest, which began in February following US-Israeli strikes on Iranian infrastructure, has led to significant maritime disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and a global energy crisis. While a ceasefire was announced on April 8 with Pakistani mediation, and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was signed on June 18 by leaders from the US, Iran, and Pakistan, tensions have resurfaced. Recent strikes in July have led to mutual accusations of violating the agreement, leaving the conflict in a stalemate.
