Iran prepares for new school year with 1.15 million first-graders

Iran is preparing for the start of a new academic year, with more than 16 million students expected to return to schools for in-person instruction. Rezvan Hakimzadeh, Deputy of Primary Education at the Ministry of Education, announced that 1,154,000 first-grade students will be entering the school system this year.

To welcome the youngest students, the ‘Jashn-e Shokofeh’ (Blossom Festival) will be held prior to the official start of classes for other grade levels. The Ministry has been coordinating preparations since October of last year through a dedicated status room and weekly meetings focused on the ‘Mehr Project.’

Key preparatory measures addressed by the Ministry include human resource allocation, class organization, school equipment and repairs, student registration, and efforts to identify and reintegrate students who had previously left the education system.
