Iran prepares for new school year with safety audits and transport updates
In preparation for the new academic year, authorities in Iran are implementing safety measures and new transport regulations. In Isfahan, officials have conducted safety inspections for approximately 6,000 schools, focusing on gas, electricity, water, and fire safety systems. Measures include improving pedestrian crossings, installing speed bumps, and pruning hazardous trees. Additionally, over 5,000 school service drivers have received necessary training. To prevent traffic congestion, construction activities in Isfahan city have been suspended for a two-week period.
In Tehran, the Tehran Taxi Management and Supervision Organization has announced new pricing for school transport services for the 1405-1406 academic year. The new rates are calculated based on a formula involving a base fee, entry fee, and per-kilometer cost. To support families, van services are priced at 80% and minibuses at 50% of the rate of passenger cars. A special increase factor has been applied for primary school students to ensure better supervision during boarding and exiting. While the Taxi Organization oversees service quality and licensing, officials noted a lack of integration with the Ministry of Education, which may cause confusion for families.
