Iran prepares for U.S. economic warfare and sanctions

Iran's Minister of Economy, Ali Madanizadeh, stated that the country is “totally prepared” for an economic war initiated by the United States. Madanizadeh noted that while Iran faces challenges such as inflation, currency pressure, and shortages, the government has a two-year plan to manage the situation and will not remain purely defensive.

The U.S. offensive includes sanctions against approximately 60 individuals, entities, and vessels linked to the Iranian government, specifically targeting sectors such as nuclear energy, missile production, cyber activities, and oil. The measures aim to pressure Tehran into reaching a new nuclear agreement.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has threatened unilateral action through the Treasury against any countries that continue economic transactions with Iran, noting that President Trump is contacting world leaders to request they cease such interactions. In response, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that neighboring countries choosing to adhere to the U.S. economic pressure campaign could face “consequences.”
