Iran President Pezeshkian warns of severe economic warfare
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country is facing the ‘worst conditions’ of economic warfare due to ongoing US sanctions and blockades. He noted that these pressures have caused a 35% decline in Iran’s imports and exports.
Pezeshkian announced that the government will begin imposing restrictions on official departments and government institutions to manage the crisis, while attempting to avoid shifting the economic burden onto citizens. He emphasized that maintaining the production of essential services, such as gas, electricity, and water, remains a ‘red line’ for the administration.
On the diplomatic front, the President stressed the importance of establishing better relations with neighboring countries to ensure regional security. He called for a common language with neighbors and increased domestic cooperation between the public, the private sector, and investors to address national challenges.
