Iran protesters face execution threats and prison sentences

Artin Rostami, a 19-year-old resident of Tehran, has been transferred to Tehran Great Prison to serve a six-month sentence. His conviction by the Tehran Revolutionary Court stems from his involvement in the widespread protests that occurred in December 2025.

Separately, the Iran Human Rights organization has reported that at least 100 protesters across 13 provinces face potential execution following the same period of unrest. The report indicates that Isfahan province has the highest number of individuals facing such sentences, with 46 people, followed by Tehran and Alborz provinces with 22 individuals. The list includes at least five women and five individuals who were under the age of 18 at the time of their alleged offenses.

Human rights advocates have raised concerns regarding the lack of transparency, the denial of access to legal counsel, and the use of torture to extract confessions. Since March 18, 31 protesters have reportedly been executed, marking a significant increase in political prisoner executions compared to previous decades.
