Iranian newspaper lists Trump, Netanyahu, Meloni and other Western leaders for revenge

Iran’s municipal daily Hamshahri published an online infographic that names 13 foreign officials – including U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and others – as targets for retaliation after the death of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei. The image shows the leaders in orange prison‑uniforms, with cross‑hair marks on the foreheads of Trump and Netanyahu.

Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father, issued a statement calling vengeance “the will of our nation and must inevitably be carried out.” The graphic was posted on the newspaper’s website on 12 July; it did not appear in the printed edition and has not been officially endorsed by the Iranian state.

The publication sparked reactions across Europe. In Italy, Lega leader Matteo Salvini posted solidarity with Prime Minister Meloni, condemning the threats. Similar condemnations appeared in other countries, highlighting the escalation of tensions in the region amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli strikes in the Gulf and reciprocal Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
