Iran registers over 2 million Arbaeen pilgrims, 750 k cross six borders

Iran's Interior Minister Asadollah Momeni said more than two million people have registered for the Arbaeen pilgrimage through the Samaah system, with over 750,000 travellers exiting the country via its six land borders. Around 3,000 Iranian and Iraqi transport convoys are ready on both sides of the borders, and services from the Red Crescent and emergency teams are on standby.

The Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization reported that the youngest pilgrim is a 13‑day‑old infant and the oldest is 110 years old. The Mehran crossing accounts for 57 % of all pilgrim traffic, making it the busiest gateway, followed by Shalamcheh, Khosrowi and Chazabeh. Pilgrims are also arriving from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan and other nations to join the ceremony in Karbala, Iraq.
