Iran warns regional oil exports will stop if its shipments are blocked

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf posted on X that “the equation of this war is clear: all or nothing,” warning that no country in the Middle East will be able to sell oil if Tehran’s own exports are prevented. He tied the security of the Strait of Hormuz to the absence of U.S. forces, stating that without guaranteed Iranian security “no infrastructure will be safe.”

The statement comes amid an escalating U.S.–Iran confrontation. U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to strike Iranian bridges, power plants and other infrastructure if Iran attacks commercial vessels in the Strait. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has reported an explosion on a tanker attempting to pass a mined route south of Hormuz and insists the strait remains under Iranian control and will stay closed while U.S. aggression continues. Analysts note that any disruption to Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global oil shipments, could push oil prices higher and affect worldwide energy markets.
