Iran rejects Arab League accusations over regional strikes

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has rejected accusations from the Arab League regarding its recent military actions in the region. Following the 166th session of the Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers, which accused Iran of targeting regional states, Tehran clarified that its retaliatory strikes against United States interests and installations were “purely defensive” and intended to safeguard national security.

Iran emphasized its “principled policy of good-neighbourliness” and called for regional convergence while avoiding provocative stances. The ministry asserted that security in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman should be managed by littoral states through cooperation, without foreign interference.

Additionally, the statement reaffirmed Iran’s sovereignty over the Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb islands, describing them as integral parts of Iranian territory based on historical records and international law. Iran expressed readiness for dialogue with regional neighbors to foster mutual trust and economic progress in West Asia.
