Iran Rejects US Claims, Says IAEA Inspections Will Await Final Deal
Iran denied U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s assertion that Tehran had granted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) permission to inspect its nuclear facilities. Spokesperson Ismail Bakaei clarified that cooperation with the IAEA will continue only within the framework of existing security agreements.
Later, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that any IAEA access to Iranian nuclear sites will be permitted only after a comprehensive final agreement between the United States and Iran is reached. He rejected any inspection arrangements independent of such a deal, emphasizing that sanctions relief and monitoring must be balanced in any settlement. The remarks were made following technical talks in Switzerland, highlighting continued diplomatic friction over nuclear oversight despite ongoing negotiations.
