Iran reports nearly 100 civilian aircraft damaged or destroyed
Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadeq, reported that approximately 100 civilian aircraft were damaged or destroyed during the first 40 days of the conflict involving the United States and Israel.
The period assessed covers from February 28 to April 8, a timeframe that included a brief truce. Sadeq clarified that only eight of the destroyed aircraft were operational at the time of the attacks; the remaining vessels were grounded and being used as sources for spare parts and engines.
Damage was reported at several airports across the country, including Tehran, Bushehr, Mashhad, and Bandar Abbas. Specific reports mentioned impacts on aircraft from Iran Air, Karun Airlines, and Pars Air, as well as Mahan Air. The loss of airframes and components has exacerbated existing operational difficulties for Iran's commercial aviation sector, which already struggles to acquire spare parts due to international sanctions.
