Iran's Forensic Medicine Organization announced that 888 people died from drowning in the past year, of which 748 were men and 140 were women. More than 40% of the fatalities occurred during the summer months, with August alone accounting for 132 deaths.

The provinces with the highest numbers were Khuzestan (123), Fars (83) and Mazandaran (74). Compared with the previous year, the total count fell 13.5%, marking the lowest figure in five years. Drowning incidents were most common in rivers (223 deaths), agricultural pools (177) and the sea (175). The agency warned the public to observe safety measures when swimming or visiting water bodies, especially in coastal and summer destinations.
