Iran reports executions in Ardabil and Dezful prisons

Reports indicate multiple executions have taken place in Iranian prisons. In Ardabil Prison, two individuals, including 34-year-old Hamed Jahani Kalesar, were reportedly executed on August 15, 2026, following murder convictions.

Additionally, Ehsan Shahvand, a 30-year-old from Andimeshk, was executed in Dezful Prison for a murder charge. Reports note that while Shahvand was initially arrested for the death of a friend, he was later released due to lack of evidence, only to be re-arrested years later on a different charge that led to the reopening of his previous case.

In Mazandaran province, the head of the judiciary announced that eight prisoners previously sentenced to death for murder were spared execution during the first three months of the current year, following the consent of the victims' families.
