Iran reports executions in Tabriz and ongoing detention of political prisoner

Reports from Iran indicate several developments regarding the country's judicial and prison systems. In Sabzevar, Javad Noudahi, a 33-year-old political prisoner detained during the January 2026 protests, remains in custody without a definitive legal status despite his family paying a bail amount. Noudahi faces multiple charges, including conspiracy against national security and insulting religious sanctities. He has reportedly been denied access to legal counsel and is suffering from physical ailments and a lack of necessary medication.

In Tabriz, two prisoners, Amrollah Dousti and Hojat Khayyat, were executed following convictions for drug-related offenses. Separately, a 50-year-old man in Tehran received a death sentence for a fatal shooting and car robbery on the Kharazi highway.

Conversely, two death row inmates in Qazvin and Miandoab were spared execution after the victims' families agreed to settlements through peace and reconciliation working groups.
