Iran reports multiple death penalty pardons and one execution

Multiple death penalty cases in Iran have resulted in both executions and pardes through the consent of victims' families.

In Tehran, Amol, and Qazvin, seven prisoners facing execution for murder were spared after their families agreed to waive the death penalty. In one instance in Qazvin, two prisoners avoided execution by paying 6 billion tomans to support a hospital's treatment department. In Amol, four prisoners were released following mediation between judges, dispute resolution councils, and the victims' families.

In contrast, an execution was carried out at Dashtgard Prison in Isfahan. Mostafa Karimzadeh, a 53-year-old from Borujerd, was executed for transporting 8.3 kilograms of heroin and crack cocaine.

Additionally, a prisoner in Khuzestan was spared from execution after 19 years in prison. The individual, who was arrested in 2007 at age 16 following a tribal conflict in Abadan, received a pardon after a reconciliation meeting involving judicial officials and tribal leaders.

Human rights reports indicate that in the Iranian year 1404, at least 2,488 citizens, including 63 women and two juvenile offenders, were executed.
