Iran reports multiple executions and new prison sentences

Human rights reports indicate a surge in executions and lengthy prison sentences across several Iranian facilities. In Mashhad and Isfahan, six individuals were recently executed in prisons including Vakilabad and Dashtgard. These executions involved charges ranging from drug-related crimes to murder, with some reports noting that families were not notified prior to the proceedings.

In Isfahan, Alireza Sepahi faces an imminent execution following a rejected retrial request. Human rights activists claim his conviction was based on forced confessions obtained through torture and threats.

In Tehran, several high-profile judicial developments were reported at Evin Prison. Nasimeh Eslam-Zahi, a Sunni prisoner, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for charges related to membership in an illegal group, despite her denials. Additionally, student activist Motahareh Gunei was transferred from Qarchak Prison to Evin Prison to serve a sentence for propaganda against the state and insulting leadership.
