Iran reports no response to mediation offer for Saudi-Houthi conflict

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that neither Saudi Arabia nor the Houthi rebels (Ansar Allah) have responded to Tehran’s offer to mediate negotiations to end hostilities. Speaking to Iraq’s Al-Ikhbariya television, Araghchi noted that while Tehran remains willing to facilitate dialogue, both sides have distinct conditions for ending the conflict.

Araghchi suggested that the Houthis' lack of response demonstrates their independence in decision-making, despite accusations of Iranian military support. He also accused Saudi Arabia of maintaining an economic blockade on Yemen for over a decade, claiming the Houthis are now using the Bab al-Mandeb Strait to exert counter-pressure on Riyadh.

Separately, tensions have risen regarding potential regional involvement. Egypt has expressed readiness to support Saudi security, though Cairo previously indicated it would not interfere directly in the Yemeni conflict. A vote in the Egyptian Parliament regarding possible military action against Houthi combatants has been postponed until October 26.
