These actions were described by President Donald Trump as a response to Iranian attempts to deploy sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on commercial shipping.

In retaliation, Iran launched a coordinated campaign using ballistic missiles and drones targeting U.S. military assets in the region.
